COLOR!

Sunday, February 17, 2008 - 11:44 PM

Today marks a brand new era for Evil Inc -- one that I frankly never thought would happen. Starting today, we plan on bringing you Your Favorite Comic in living (or should that be loathing?) color.

This started with a Webcomics Weekly discussion on applying color to a daily webcomic. We all agreed that it would be terrific to have, but none of us could devote the time.

Shortly thereafter, I heard from a man who offered to color the strip. We discussed it -- a lot -- and worked out an agreement.

And the results -- as you can see -- are stupendous.

Without further ado, let me introduce you to the reason for this incredible change, Ed Ryzowski. Ed does a terrific webcomic called Geek Tragedy, and has been doing a phenomenal job with Evil Inc. These strips simply sparkle.

I can't wait for you guys to see the next few weeks and enjoy Ed's versatility and skill. I've had a sneak peek of what he's able to do with these strips and it's truly amazing. Please check out his comic and let him know how much you're loving his work.

Wow! This looks tremendous! Great job Mr. Guigar and Mr. Ryzowski!

I hadn't registered for the blog until today but I love the new colour (yes I'm canadian, I'm writing colour with 'our'... because it's right:)) so much that I had to come in here and comment on it.

I can't wait to see the whole cast in colour!

Amazing start Brad and Ed. You have her in dark green which is a favorite of mine too!

Wow. Looks great.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the characters in colour.

Thank you both.

The color looks nice! It was quite a surprise to see one of my favorite strips being colored by the artist of another web comic I really enjoy.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems to give the strip a bit of a Noir flair that I find interesting.

While I do like being able to tell the difference between Miss Match and the green gal from Monday, the shading is so overpowering (the characters look ill and bruised) that I prefer the black and white. Try cutting back the midtones and going more basic. The elaborate coloring is fine at Geek Tragedy but at Evil Inc the aesthetic is Less-is-More, so the detailed midtones work against Guigar's art. Stretching and experimenting are always great ways to develop as an artist and I look forward to seeing your craft sproing.

I gotta admit that this is one instance where color isn't helping. I mean, it's pretty and all, but this is a strip where a flat, more 4 color type approach would be more appropriate. Of course, that's just my opinion...and we all know that opinions are like...

VILF is GREEN? (Score: 1)

Sheesh! I agree that some of the characters look flat. VILF certainly does. I think that a bit of fine-tuning will fix the look, however, and that we'll all end up loving it after a while.

I think that part of my reaction is based on the fact that I was expecting VILF to be red, for some reason.

Keep the color. Loose the 3D. I agree with camidumas and yingko. The presentation in 3D color isn't consistent with the feel of the comic. Simpler would definitely be better.

Been so long that i used to visit this site every day (but never bothered with basically anything else), and i gotta say, great thing i re-started visiting it back some weeks ago, and specially decided to give it a go and re-read everything to remind the early story.

Now i see you've you got help coloring one of the best comics around, and i can say is: ub3r pwn4g3.

Evan tough i do like some characters in black & white, i perfectly accept them in color, just like the drawing has evolved a lot with the time, so will the coloring.

Great job, keep the good work, and uhh.. ever tough of going with t-shirts with the Evil Inc. theme? :P
