I was floored to find out that I had been nominated for Best Online Longform Comic by the members of the National Cartoonists Society. This is my second nomination in two years, and I'm overwhelmed by the honor!
Evan Dahm's Third Voice is a tour de force of visual storytelling. The story is an ambitious fantasy graphic novel following wandering scavengers in an ending world. Spondule and Navichet are set in "an invented world in a state of apocalyptic crisis, and the precarious lives of many people therein."
Here’s a special Phables* comic I did back in 2006, that I love to share every Halloween.
It’s the (mostly) true story about a botanist who taught at Transylvania University in Kentucky (the place really exists). When he was caught with the college president’s wife, he was ousted from campus. Upon leaving, he placed a curse on the institution, and, supposedly, every seven years, something tragic happens at Transylvania University. The last “Curse Year”, by the way, was 2018, so we’re due in just two more years.
Phables was a series I did for The Philadelphia Daily News that shared stories about life in Philadelphia. It was nominated for the Eisner Award in 2007. Here’s what it looked like as a full page.
