Chapter 16 | Page 21a: Cassie Feels the Love (Possibly in Violation of Company Policy)

After a blurry night of karaoke, Cassie Cruz is beginning to feel at home at Evil Inc. While demon-possessed beverages and assassination attempts marked her early days, Cassie now enjoys more peaceful moments at her desk—often with a cup of coffee in hand and her assistant Jeremy nearby. As the two reflect on their evolving workplace dynamics, it becomes clear that “normal” is a relative term in the world of corporate villainy.

Caption: Several days later...
Cassie Cruz, sitting at her desk with a red mug:
“I... I think the gang has warmed up to me.”
Jeremy, standing across the desk:
“It must be nice to enjoy coffee that hasn’t been possessed by a demon.”

Panel 2:
Cassie, smiling and looking at her coffee:
“I dunno... I kinda miss seeing dirty words spelled out in the foam.”

Panel 3:
Cassie, smirking:
“My favorite was ‘twatwaffle.’ It really required precision.”

Panel 4:
Jeremy, surprised:
“Have the assassination attempts stopped?”
Cassie: “I think so.”
Jeremy: “You think so??”

Panel 5:
Jeremy, alarmed, reacting to a mass of green tentacles rising from the drawer that Cassie has just opened:
“Well, you tell me... What’s this about?”

Panel 6:
Cassie, calmly sipping coffee while Jeremy is tangled in the tentacles:
“I’d say boundaries... and about three new Human Resources policies.”
