Chapter 17 | Page 1a: Latte Foam Art Fail

It’s been a lively week across the Evil Inc universe — and the next stretch promises even more mischief. Here’s what’s been happening on the drawing board, on Patreon, and out in the wilds of social media…

Chapter 17 Takes Off

The tone is set, the awkwardness is delicious, and the social-media spectacle is just beginning.

Next week: Page 2 arrives — with a breakfast-themed punchline that absolutely walks right up to the edge of “demonstrably obscene” and politely waves.

A Gripping New Series

I had an idea that’s either the funniest thing ever... or the stupidest. Actually, it might be both. Remember this bonus comic?

Well, I decided those guys deserved their own series.

Stay ‘tooned. It’s gonna get weird.

Evil Inc After Dark: Monster Girl Madness Continues

Last week’s Monster Girl Poll crowned Goblin Girl, and that three-way tie for second place really revved people’s imaginations.

Patreon backers have already submitted ideas for What scene should Goblin Girl star in? I’ll pick my favorite suggestion and turn it into a fully rendered commissioned illustration. The winner gets the hi-res file.

The suggestions have absolutely nailed the spirit of creativity! Expect goblins doing goblin things.

Transcript

In the intro to Chapter 17, we return to Ralph's Diner, which you may remember from an earlier storyline — here and here. The new waitress, Hailey, is riding high on a burst of online fame after posting her latest latte-art creation — a “leaf” that’s getting serious traction. Unfortunately, her coworker Rose spots something a little more… suggestive in the foam. As Hailey scrambles to serve a customer who may have received one of her more questionable cappuccinos, panic brews faster than the espresso.

A comic page set in Ralph’s Diner.
Panel 1: Exterior of the diner. A man’s word balloon from inside calls, “Hailey… The man at table five is asking for his check.”
Panel 2: Inside the diner kitchen. Rose, an older waitress with gray hair in a bun and wearing a white uniform and apron, walks toward Hailey. Hailey, a younger waitress with long red hair and a white apron, is excitedly holding up her phone. She says she posted a video of her latte-art leaf and it’s getting views.
Panel 3: Rose asks if this is the famous foam. Hailey proudly says it is, holding a cup toward her.
Panel 4: Silent panel. Rose looks down at the cup, clearly evaluating it, while Hailey stands beside her looking proud.
Panel 5: Rose gently asks Hailey if she’s heard of Georgia O’Keeffe. Hailey, confused and frustrated, says people keep asking her that.
Panel 6: Rose tells her it’s not a latte leaf… it’s a lady leaf. Hailey reacts with sudden alarm.
Panel 7: Hailey panics and tells Rose she has to give the guy at table five his check. Rose wonders if he saw the video.
Panel 8: Hailey covers her face in embarrassment and admits she made him a special cappuccino for Taco Tuesday.
