Chapter 17 | Page 2b: The Ol’ Battle Ax

The #GuigarChristmasCountdown Rolls On

Every day until Christmas, I’m releasing a brand-new holiday single-panel gag — and this year’s batch has already included:

  • Overworked elves

  • Malfunctioning snowmen

  • Questionable reindeer behavior

  • And Santas who are absolutely phoning it in

Next week’s cartoons keep the absurdity rolling. If you’re counting down to Christmas with me… buckle up. We’re not even halfway to the weirdest ones. Catch them on BlueskyPatreon chat, or the Evil Inc Subreddit.

News Watch: Comic Books Recession-proof?

[Christian Science Monitor]: The rest of the publishing industry may have its worries, but in comic-book land, things are looking rosy. According to an article in USA Today, total sales of comic books were “strong” in 2008, while the graphic-novel category grew by 5%. Read the entire story.

This may be tied into the “Lipstick Effect” that I posted about on Webcomics.com. In a bad economy, people actually spend more on less-expensive mood enhancers like lipstick (and comics).

And that’s nothing but good news for comics.

P.S. Would it be completely unlandish to predict the return of the Page 6 Girl in tabloid newspapers?
