Chapter 17 | Page 14b: First-Date Tension

In today’s Evil Inc, Yazmine Velour pitches a viral strategy built entirely on first-date tension — because nothing hooks an audience like awkward chemistry and unresolved feelings. Unfortunately for Captain Heroic, his real-life situation may be trending in a very different direction…

Courting Disaster: Oct. 19, 2007

Courting Disaster, my weekly comic about sex, love, and relationships updates every Friday. You’ll laugh your pants off.

This week’s question:

Q: I am 25 years old, and I have been with my girlfriend for three years. I plan on marrying her, and she swears she wants to be with me forever. We have known each other since we were 15, and we are best friends. She recently confided in me that she worries about having regrets since she hasn’t slept with anyone besides me in 5 years. We took a break in college and while she dated, she didn’t sleep with anyone. I understand the sentiment but I can’t help but be a little worried. In my expereince, women in love usually have tunnel vision, and they don’t think about sleeping with other men. And if they do they don’t bring it up. I don’t fault her for feeling this way. I just wonder if it’s a sign that — while she loves me as a boyfriend and could be happy being my wife (I’m a great catch by the way) — she isn’t in love with me. Help.

Go on over and offer some advice.
